The science program at QPS aims to spark curiosity and interest in the world surrounding our students. To encourage them to observe, explore, investigate and ask questions. We hope to provide an understanding of living things (biological), of the Earth’s place in the cosmos (Earth and Space) and of physical and chemical processes which help explain what we see.
Engagement
Students will engage in diverse scientific inquiry methods, such as questioning, planning experiments, collecting data, analyzing results, and drawing evidence-based conclusions. With the addition of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) students will enjoy a variety of activities allowing for problem solving, creativity, critical analysis, teamwork, independent thinking, initiative, communication and digital literacy.
By the end of their scientific journey, students should adeptly choose and combine scientific knowledge and methods. They will be able to explain and predict phenomena, apply their understanding to new situations, and recognize the dynamic nature of scientific knowledge.
