Dear Queenscliff PS Parents and Carers,
Welcome to our first newsletter for Term 3! It has been an action packed two weeks, with the change in leadership for the term, Industrial Action, Curriculum Day, Parent Teacher Interviews and incursions. The events keep coming this term as we look forward to the Grade 3/4 Camp, Art Show, Nherrin Boor Woork Celebration, and the Wonder Showcase.
Firstly, I would like to personally thank everyone for welcoming me to the Queenscliff Primary School community. I feel very supported by everyone and am enjoying engaging and getting to know students, staff and families. Student engagement with learning has really impressed me, as well as the pride and care students take when completing their work. The school values have clearly been on display in the whole community. I have valued the strong connection to country and First Nation’s perspectives. I feel privileged to lead Queenscliff PS this term and strive to have a positive impact in my connections, input and leadership.
Thank you to our parent community for supporting the Parent Teacher Interviews last week. This was a valuable opportunity to celebrate Semester 1 successes and identify future learning opportunities. Sincere thanks to the staff for their time and expertise preparing for the interviews. These interviews are a great opportunity to strengthen the home school partnership, set goals and discuss strategies for supporting development.
The Industrial Action certainly provided disruption to the start to term, but I thank our parent community for your support in supporting our staff in this action.
Our Grade 3/4 staff and students are busily preparing for Camp Kangaroobie in Week 4. This will be a great opportunity to strengthen friendships, independence and build confidence as we tackle new challenges and adventures. Students look forward to sharing many highlights in future newsletters and at assembly. Thank you to Mrs Hurley and Mrs Fullard for their camp preparation. I can’t wait to join in the fun!
The academic teaching and learning models at Queenscliff PS are very strong and well regarded in the Barwon schooling area. Our school was proudly asked to present at this year’s Government Schools Principal’s Conference in Melbourne in May. Now, we are featured as a ‘School in the Spotlight’ series, providing professional learning to many schools in the Barwon Area. Our leaders of learning, Jackie Morris, Morgan-Lee Hickey and Yvette Hurley, alongside leadership team members, Hannah Petrie and Mat McRae, will present on fostering a strong culture of high expectations, the redesign of instructional models, building staff culture, leading with empathy, and sustaining strong community connections. This demonstrates the high regard Queenscliff PS is held, both locally and statewide. A huge congratulations for this recognition and opportunity to showcase our school.
Queenscliff Primary School such a special place to learn and grow. This term will be full of exciting learning in and out of the classroom, as well as strong opportunities for community engagement.
