Dear Queenscliff PS school community,
It’s hard to believe we are already in Week 7 of term! I will be cherishing the final three weeks at Queenscliff PS, but I loved catching up with Mr McRae last week and knowing his excitement to return to QPS ready for Term 4. It is a busy final few weeks with the upcoming Art Show, Wonder Showcase and ‘Footy Day’!
Science Week was also a highlight with students hypothesizing, problem-solving, using seeds creatively and making seed pods. Thank you, Mrs Vistarini, for the incredible work that you did organising this event. Students participated in multi-age rotations in their houses to explore all about seeds. It was great seeing older students support younger peers to succeed and participate.
As I said at assembly, this term has been jam-packed with events. I commend the staff for going above and beyond the expectations in the classroom to provide engaging and fun-filled learning experiences that will be memorable for years to come. These events help to build the engagement with our school parent/carer community and the wider region. I thank all the staff for the tireless hours outside of school to make these events happen!
Term 3 is such a great term for consolidating learning and growth. I’ve loved having student visitors to my office to show me great learning, such as handwriting improvement, maths fluency and I’m even learning more about history and civilisations. The pride in their learning and the articulation of their learning goals is a real highlight.
A friendly reminder that the Parent Opinion Survey is now open and submissions can be made until Friday, 18 September. Information was provided in a Compass Newsfeed and is also in this newsletter. We value your feedback to identify and celebrate successes, and identify future focus areas. Our current response rate is only14%, and I know we can continue to improve this so that we get an informed perspective of the whole community. Thank you in advance for completing this survey.
It is a busy few weeks ahead. Please keep bringing in the raffle donations as the hampers are looking a little bare. Also, please ‘Save the Date’ for Friday, 4 September from 3:30pm to head to the Art Show. I am certainly looking forward to it.

Book Week
Was such a highlight!
The effort taken with costumes and the enthusiasm of students was impressive. Students have explored the nominated books for the ‘Book of the Year’ contest, many of which are available in The Bookshop at Queenscliffe. We thank Matt for coming along from the Bookshop to lead the Book Fair which was well supported by the community. Matt kindly donated a Book Box of Classic Junior Novels for a lucky draw. Every student in the school was automatically entered into the draw, and the lucky winner was Eleanor (Grade 5). A portion of all Book Fair sales will go toward new classroom and library resources.

The Art of Learning - Celebrating Performing Arts at QPS and across Victoria
After many months of planning, filming, writing, editing and collaboration, the documentary series and accompanying case studies are now available for schools, teachers and education leaders across Victoria to explore. In 2026, Ms Petrie, Mrs Fitzgerald and parents of our QPS community, were invited by Drama Victoria to share all about Performing Arts at our school. Now, it is finally live! This work draws attention to the extraordinary work taking place at Queenscliff PS and to advocate for the vital role Drama plays in meaningful learning. This is a celebration the incredible work happening in your school.
While each of the programs is unique, together they tell a much bigger story. They demonstrate that quality Drama is rigorous, purposeful and deeply connected to student learning. More importantly, they show what meaningful learning can look like when students are challenged to think creatively, collaborate authentically, communicate with confidence and engage wholeheartedly in their learning. These resources will inspire other schools to reflect on their own practice and recognise the many ways Drama can enrich teaching and learning. We don't expect schools to replicate what we’ve created, because that is unique to us at QPS, but we hope they'll see possibilities, adapt ideas to their own contexts and continue building high-quality Drama programs that meet the needs of their students.
Thank you, Ms Petrie, Mrs Fitzgerald and parents, for you great contribution to this project. The Art of Learning will support teachers, school leaders and education communities for years to come.

Art Show Raffle Donations
It’s not too late to Donate!
Thank you to the families who have already contributed to our Art Show Raffle. The baskets are sadly looking a little bare! We’re accepting donations up until Wednesday, 2 September at 12noon!
This year we removed the Art Show entry fee, opting for other ways to engage our community and enjoy the Art Show. Every little contribution counts. I know a lot of the supermarkets have half priced chocolate blocks and lollies this week!
Hampers are in the foyer for all your donations. Lollies and Chocolates to be handed in at the office please. Can’t wait for the Art Show Fun!
Footy Day
Friday 18 September - Last day of term!
Come dressed in your favourite footy or sporting colours and join in the fun! Fingers crossed the mighty Coutas are preparing for a lot of Grand Finals the very next day! Maybe even Mrs Jeffreys Blues will be preparing for the Grand Final too!
Thanks to the Grade 3/4 parents, we’ll be having a Special Lunch on the Friday. There are options for all needs, regular, gluten-free and vegetarian. To make the collation of orders more efficient, all orders will be taken online. There are no additional costs to you as a family using this platform.

2026 Parent / Carer Opinion Survey
Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Carer Opinion Survey and is seeking your feedback. The survey, offered by the Department of Education, is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement.
Your opinions are important to us and will contribute to identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs at Queenscliff Primary School, to target school planning and improvement strategies. The department will use the results from the survey for research purposes and to improve outcomes for students. All survey responses are anonymous.
The survey will be conducted online and only takes 20 minutes to complete. It can be completed on any internet enabled device (desktop computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone) and is compatible with most browsers.
The Parent / Carer Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 17 August to Friday 18 September 2026.
